Kate Hruby

Communication and Education Coordinator

Kate grew up on the Salish Sea, left for a few years to try out her sea legs on the East Coast, and then came back to the water she calls home. She has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from the University of New England and a master's degree in Earth and Climate Science from the University of Maine. Despite her earthy-sounding degrees though, she's passionate about the ocean and has worked in outdoor education on sailboats since 2015.

Over the past few years, Kate has fostered a skillset around science communication and runs the social media for two other science and ocean-themed organizations. She is excited to step into this role at SR3 and bring fun facts and inspiring patient stories to your favorite social platforms.
