Michelle Rivard, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Michelle Rivard is an aquatic animal veterinarian focused on clinical medicine, pathology and health of free-ranging marine mammals. In her role at SR³, Michelle provides medical management and care of stranded aquatic wildlife, performs postmortem examinations and participates in ongoing research projects.

Michelle attended veterinary school at Michigan State University and spent several years in the US Army Veterinary Corps after graduation. After her time in the military, Michelle transitioned to a career that focused on her passion of conservation medicine and free-ranging aquatic species. She has worked with a variety of aquatic and exotic species in field, rehabilitation and managed care settings and trained with a numerous wildlife response organizations. Her research interests include pinniped clinical pathology, infectious disease and population health.
